Abigail Royce
Abigail Ann Royce (born c. 1979) is a beauty queen from the United States of America.[1] She was crowned as Miss Earth United States 2001. She competed in the first edition of the international Miss Earth 2001 beauty pageant produced by Carousel Productions, where she was one of the semifinalists.[2][3]
Miss Earth 2001[edit]
Royce, from California, was selected and crowned Miss Earth United States 2001. She went to represent the United States in the first edition of Miss Earth beauty pageant, where the final coronation night was held on October 28, 2001 at the University of the Philippines Theater in Quezon City, Philippines.[4][5]
The pageant, called "Beauty for a Cause", consisted of swimsuit, evening gown, and talent competitions, but more weight was given to ecological and environmental intelligence in the interview portion since the Miss Earth winner serves as the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other environmental organizations.[6][7]
The delegates were first trimmed down to 10 in the semi-final portion, which included Royce. The pageant, which promotes environmental awareness, was won by Catharina Svensson of Denmark and participated by 42 delegates representing various countries in the world.[7][8][9]
