About Educational Systems Federal Credit Union
Educational Systems Federal Credit Union (ESFCU) is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution founded in 1955 that serves the education community throughout Maryland.* It is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Educational Systems FCU has more than $1 billion in assets and serves over 85,000 members, making it the seventh largest credit union in Maryland.*
History- In 1955, a group of Prince George's County teachers got together to help a colleague purchase a car to get to work. That group of teachers formed what is now known as Educational Systems Federal Credit Union.* In 2012, Montgomery County Teachers FCU merged with Educational Systems FCU to form the largest education-based credit union in its region.* Educational Systems FCU now serves seven counties, three community colleges, and has 12 branches throughout Maryland.*
Membership- To be eligible for membership with Educational Systems FCU, applicants must be an employee, student, parent, or immediate family member of the following school systems and community colleges:*
Anne Arundel County Calvert County Charles County Montgomery County Prince George's County St. Mary's County Talbot County College of Southern Maryland Montgomery College Montgomery College Alumni Association Prince George's Community College Prince George's Community College Alumni Other groups eligible for membership at the Credit Union include: Individuals who work for a school system or community college served by the Credit Union, but paid by a contractor Individuals who live or work in St. Mary's County and their immediate family Individuals who work for or attend a private or parochial school or are part of an organization that supports education
Products and services-
Educational Systems FCU offers conventional financial services, including checking accounts, savings accounts, Money Market accounts, Certificates, and IRAs.* The Credit Union’s Premium Summer Pay program is a specialized service that allows 10-month paid employees to receive direct deposits during the months that they would not normally be receiving a paycheck.*
Mobile Services- Educational Systems FCU provides mobile services that allow members to bank anywhere, anytime, at their convenience. Mobile services include Mobile Banking, Mobile Deposit Capture, Apple Pay, Text Banking, and Audio Response Teller (ART).*
Online Services- Members can use online services to manage their Credit Union accounts. The complete line of online services includes Online Banking, Bill Pay, eStatements, and eLerts.*
Tools for the classroom- Since 2012, Educational Systems FCU has sponsored the Millionaire's Club in various high schools in the communities they serve. The club provides financial skills and knowledge to high school students.* The Credit Union presents financial education seminars to help members, educators, parents, and students reach their financial goals and dreams.*
Educational Systems FCU awards scholarships and professional development awards for high school students, community college students, and educators of the communities they serve.*
Academic Sponsorships- Educational Systems FCU supports academics through sponsorships and partnerships for multiple events throughout the school year. The Credit Union participates annually in Read Across America, where its employees read to students at local elementary schools.* Educational Systems FCU sponsors the Read and Hit a Home Run program with the Bowie Baysox and the Pinch onto Books program with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.*
Support Education Foundation-
Educational Systems FCU supports the Children's Miracle Network by sponsoring runners and walkers for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Run. Annually, the Credit Union's employees donate to provide 7,500 backpacks for less fortunate students in 50 middle schools and eight student service centers.* Warming Hearts and Hands is an Educational Systems FCU program that provides cold weather accessories to students in need in the communities they serve through donations from the Credit Union's members and employees.*
