Abraham "Abe" Hamadeh (born May 15, 1991) is a former prosecutor with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office and a U.S. Army captain where he served as an intelligence officer.[1] Hamadeh received the Republican nomination for Arizona Attorney General in the 2022 primary election.

Early life and education[edit]

Hamadeh was born in Chicago, Illinois, and later moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

Hamadeh attended Arizona State University for his undergraduate degree and later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona College of Law. While attending law school, the Arizona Prosecuting Attorneys’ Advisory Council awarded Abraham the Udall Fellowship by which provided him early prosecutorial experience at city, county, state, and federal prosecutor offices.[2]

Military service[edit]

Abraham is an intelligence officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and previously served a 14-month deployment in Saudi Arabia.[3]

Arizona Attorney General candidacy[edit]

Hamadeh announced his candidacy for Arizona Attorney General in November 2021.[4] He announced he had raised $100,000 in campaign funds within the first week of his campaign.[5] Hamadeh secured the nomination for Republican attorney general after winning the primary on August 2, 2022.[6]

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Hamadeh in June 2022.[7]

Illegal immigration and border security[edit]

Hamadeh has indicated that he would declare the situation at Arizona's southern border as an "invasion" and grant the state enforcement authority under the using the State War Power Act. Additionally, Hamadeh has called for cartel organizations to be declared as "terrorist organizations", allowing the state to seize cartel assets.[8]

Consumer protection[edit]

Hamadeh has said that he would use the Consumer Fraud Act to investigate "Big Tech."[8]

Abortion[edit]

Hamadeh has indicated that he believes the legal interpretation that Arizona's statehood law outlawing most abortions is correct and is current law in the state.[8]
