Abraham "Abe" Hamadeh (born May 15, 1991) is a former prosecutor with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office and a U.S. Army captain where he served as an intelligence officer.[1] Hamadeh received the Republican nomination for Arizona Attorney General in the 2022 primary election.

Early life and education

Hamadeh was born in Chicago, Illinois, and later moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He attended Arizona State University for his undergraduate degree and later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona College of Law. While attending law school, the Arizona Prosecuting Attorneys’ Advisory Council awarded him the Udall Fellowship, providing early prosecutorial experience at various prosecutor’s offices.[2]

Military service

Hamadeh is an intelligence officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and previously served a 14-month deployment in Saudi Arabia.[3]

Arizona Attorney General candidacy

Hamadeh announced his candidacy for Arizona Attorney General in November 2021.[4] He secured the Republican nomination after winning the primary on August 2, 2022.[5]

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Hamadeh in June 2022.[6]

Illegal immigration and border security

Hamadeh would declare the situation at Arizona's southern border as an "invasion" and grant the state enforcement authority using the State War Power Act. He also advocates for declaring cartel organizations as "terrorist organizations."[7]

Consumer protection

Hamadeh plans to use the Consumer Fraud Act to investigate "Big Tech."[7]

Abortion

Hamadeh believes the legal interpretation that Arizona's statehood law outlawing most abortions is correct and currently in effect.[7]
