Abraham Rowe
Abraham Rowe is an American animal rights activist. He is employed by Rethink Priorities[1]. He is known for his work as one of the founders of the movement to reduce wild animal suffering and create the academic field of welfare biology,[2] starting early organizations in the space, including Utility Farm and Wild Animal Initiative.[3]
He attended Oberlin College.[4]
In 2017, he co-founded Utility Farm, one of the first groups working to improve wild animal welfare, and later co-founded and served as Executive Director of Wild Animal Initiative,[5] rated by Animal Charity Evaluators as one of the most effective animal charities in the world.[6]
In 2019, Paul Ariès suggested in Le Monde that his work represented a hidden agenda pushed by animal rights activists.[7]
He currently runs a project studying industries that farm and use invertebrates.[8], Invertebrate Welfare. He works at Rethink Priorities as the Director of Operations.[1]
His work has been cited by Vox[9] and has appeared in Current Affairs[10] and L'Amorce.[11]
