Absolute Beginner's Guide
Absolute Beginner's Guide is a Que Publishing book series, aimed at the true beginner in various computer subjects. The books are available both in hard copy and digital format.
History[edit]
Originally published under the Sams Publishing imprint,[1] the first book in the series, Absolute Beginner's Guide to Programming, was published January 26, 1993.[2] Que Publishing, Sams' sister imprint (both publishing imprints of Pearson Education) took over the series in 2000, and the first book published under Que was Absolute Beginner's Guide to PC Upgrades, by T.J. Lee and Lee Hudspeth, on November 22, 2000.[2]
The original series featured photos of people with enlarged heads. Que changed the book design in late 2012 to include the hatching egg graphic throughout the books, signifying the beginner-level nature of the product. Que has since made the chick its mascot, having social media fans around the world choose its name in November 2012.
Topics covered[edit]
Volumes in the series cover all beginner-level computing topics, such as Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems, productivity applications, basic computing skills, social networks and special skills such as project management.
