Abubakar Salim (born January 7, 1993) is an English actor and voice actor. Salim is known for his roles in Black Mirror, as Jonah Agyeman in J.K Rowling's Strike, Pedro in Jamestown[1][2], Rokhan in World of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth and Bayek in the video game Assassin's Creed Origins .[3]

Early Life[edit]

Salim grew up in Hertfordshire, England. His mother was a carer and his father worked for Xerox as a software engineer.[4] In 2011, Salim was awarded a scholarship from the Genesis Foundation[5] and attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, where he graduated in 2014.[6]

Career[edit]

Abubakar Salim's first credited role was in the TV mini-series The Jury. Since graduating from drama school, Salim has appeared on both stage and screen including Black Mirror, Agatha Raisin, 24: Live Another Day, Fortitude, Strike and Jamestown.[7]

When Salim auditioned for Assassin's Creed Origins, he did not know it was for the game originally. It was advertised as an animated TV series. In the second round of auditions, he was told it was for the Assassin's Creed video game franchise.[8] Assassins Creed Origins was his first professional voice and motion capture game and in 2018, he was nominated for a "Performer" award in the BAFTA Game Awards.[9]

Personal life[edit]

Salim lost his father to Cancer (Lymphoma) in 2013.[4] He supports and raises funds for Cancer Research UK.[10] He enjoys playing video games and credits them for his love of storytelling. Salim is also Dyslexic[8]
