Academic development
Academic development is a field of practice and research within higher education that focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL)[1]. Academic developers support university staff and institutions in enhancing the quality of education through professional development, curriculum design, and pedagogical innovation.
Academic developers offer activities that aim to:
- Enhance teaching effectiveness
- Improve student learning and engagement
- Support curriculum and assessment design
- Promote reflective and evidence-based teaching
- Foster institutional change related to massification
Academic developers often work with individual educators, academic departments, and institutional leadership.
