Academy Bank, N.A. is an American bank headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. Established in 1966, it provides consumer and business banking services, including deposit accounts and lending products.[1]
Owned by Dickinson Financial Corporation, Academy Bank operates approximately 80 branches across five U.S. states: Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri.[1][2]
Academy Bank is the sister bank of Armed Forces Bank, which provides banking services for members of the United States Armed Forces, veterans, and their family members.[2][3]
History
Academy Bank was established in 1966 as Air Academy National Bank.[1] In 1990, the bank moved its main office to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, and reorganized its banking operations in 1991.
Air Academy National Bank was acquired by Dickinson Financial Corporation by 2000.[4] In 2005, the bank's name was changed to Academy Bank, N.A., and it moved its main office to Colorado Springs, Colorado.[1]
Academy Bank continued expanding through acquisitions in the 2010s, including those of Southern Commerce Bank in Tampa, Florida, and SunBank in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2015.[5] In 2017, the bank completed its acquisition of Merit Bank in Overland Park, Kansas.[1][6] In 2019, Academy Bank acquired KCB Bank in Kearney, Missouri.[7]
Academy Bank moved its main office from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Kansas City, Missouri, in 2017.[1] The bank subsequently relocated its main office within Kansas City in 2020 and 2024.
In 2024, Academy Bank acquired Mountain View Bank of Commerce in Westminster, Colorado.[1][8] In 2025, the bank opened its first branch location in Arkansas.[9]
