Acts 2 Network (Acts2 Network, a2n) is a Southern Baptist church with a college ministry focus. As of 2022, it was on 60 college campuses and 35 US cities.[1]
History
The church was founded as Berkland Baptist Church by Rebekah and Paul Kim in 1981, in the region of Berkeley, California and Oakland, California. In 2006 it reorganized and changed its name to Gracepoint. In 2023 it rebranded as Acts 2 Network.[1]
Mission
"An Acts 2 church in every college town" is the church's mission statement. It serves primarily Asian-American Christians with enthusiasm for a special, faith-centric lifestyle. Life in the church is marked by strong leadership, and large investments of time spent in fellowship with other members. Members desire to "give college a slice of my life, but give God the whole pie," in the words of one member interviewed in 2009 by a UC Berkeley alumni magazine.[2]
Controversies
The church has been the subject of investigations. Journalists note a variety of harms, including couples forced to break up, shaming, and overworked covocational staff members.[1][3][4]
