From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Adam Harris[edit]

Adam Harris is an Irish autism advocate and public speaker best known as the Founder-CEO of AsIAm.ie, Ireland's leading autism charity.

Early Life[edit]

Harris was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome a condition on the autism spectrum when he was 3 years old and spent the first five years of his primary education in a special school. Harris later moved to a main stream secondary school and with the help of a special needs assistant completed his Leaving Certificate exams.

Starting AsIAm[edit]

After graduating secondary school in 2013, Harris briefly enrolled in University College Dublin to study Psychology. However, after his first semester he dropped out of university in order to set up AsIAm. The reason Harris established the charity was due to his frustrations at a lack of support for those on the autism spectrum. The overall aim of the charity is to support and empower autistic people while also educating wider society to be more understanding and inclusive to those on the autism spectrum.

Personal Life[edit]

Harris was born in Greystones in County Wicklow and is the younger brother of the Irish Health Minister, Simon Harris. He is openly gay and his partner is called Daniel.
