From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Addison Flux (born October 6, 1986) is an American musician, rapper, producer and writer based in Chicago, Illinois.

Early Life[edit]

Addison Flux was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to Donna, a paralegal and Bob Bealert, a shipping manager. His father was a musician in the1970/80's playing drums in blues rock and cover bands in the Ft. Lauderdale area. He developed an interest in music at an early age listening to his fathers records, particularly by Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix. Following his parents divorce, he was raised by his mother with brother; Tim (b. 1982) and sister; Brooke (b. 1978). At age 13, his brother gave him a burned CD of Big L's The Big Picture, as well as various mix-tapes featuring Mobb Deep, Eminem, 50 Cent, Tupac and Wu Tang Clan. It was around this time he began writing his own lyrics over instrumentals and song fadeouts. Apart from writing lyrics, Addison has played the drums since age 12.

Musical History[edit]

Addison began recording music on a laptop microphone over minimalist beats created on FL Studio around 2013. Following a brief move to Pennsylvania, he joined band "Odd Man In" as their lead vocalist. They played various festivals in the Central Pennsylvania area and gigged at local bars on the 2nd St. strip in Harrisburg. In 2015, he became serious about recording hip hop, using his influences of boom bap and classic rock. Following frequent collaborations with Chicago/Memphis based producer Pico Safari he began releasing mix-tapes on DatPiff such as freshman project, "If You Are Reading This, You Are Right on Time", the latter salutation in proximity to a Drake project title. He performed the record in entirety at Quenchers Saloon in Chicago after its release. Following the mix tapes moderate success, he recorded and co-produced "Emojions" and "The Northside", both released on the DatPiff platform. Looking to progress musically, Flux began producing ambient hip-hop-esque blues and soul instrumentals, combining indie rock vocality and old school street lyricism for his debut limited vinyl release "Who Are We". In 2017, he began producing and recording "Porn" which is his debut Independent, monetary release. This 10 track record features a set-apart sound combining catchy hooks, rapidly changing bridges along with fast, yet organic-ever-morphing delivery. The latter, blended with live instrumentation, old school smoothness/soul, and arranged with reverberated ambience, is noted on tracks such as "Porn" and "Renegades" (featuring Chicago artist/producer; Lylantz) who compliments his absorbing harmonies, punchy drawl and conscious flow, all of which are present throughout the project.

Themes[edit]

With unorthodox musical delivery and at times abstract lyricism, Addison combines social commentary with political undertones, while also remaining confident, upbeat and digestible. Observations of the homeless, poverty, sociology in Chicago, street smarts, racial tension, tabloid news and issues within the non-bi-partisan media are recurring elements in Addison Flux' projects.

Personal Life[edit]

He currently lives in Chicago where he records and produces out of his home studio. He is of English, German and Cherokee Indian descent.
