Adel Mahmoud (Arabic: عادل محمود, born on March 3, 1979) is a Bahraini singer.[1]
Education[edit]
Born Adel Mahmoud Abdullah on March 3, 1979, he studied at the University of Bahrain’s Department of Media and Public Relations. He is married and has twins named Muhammad and Abdullah.
Career[edit]
His start in the music business came when his high school music teacher Adel Khalifa introduced him to the University’s musical director, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hadi.[2] In 1997, he won the “University’s Best Singer” competition, followed in 1999 by a fourth-place finish at the Dubai Shopping Festival talent contest and a victory on his school’s behalf at a regional university competition in Egypt. In 2002, he performed a song at the Arabic Song Festival in Jordan, helping promote it as the lead single and title track from his 2003 debut album on Rotana Records, البداية (“The Beginning”); since then, he has released two more albums, كلي معك (“Dine with You,” 2006) and قصة جديدة (“New Story,” 2010). Between his debut and sophomore releases, he worked as a music consultant for the Ministry of Information. He struggled after 2008 given the scarce media infrastructure locally, but participated in many concerts and festivals at home and abroad, including patriotic spectacles like تحية لبو سلمان (“Greetings to Bo Salman”, a stage musical by his compatriot, Khaled El Sheikh) and the video “دندنة البحرين” (“Humble Bahrain”) co-starring Mohammed Abdu.[3]
