Aderogba Otunla is a Nigerian Information Technology Expert and Entrepreneur, who currently serves as an IT Consultant and also a Community Manager under the Google Business Group (GBG) initiative.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Aderogba Otunla was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He completed his Bachelors (B.Sc.) Degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State. On moving towards Information Technology (IT), he earned a Postgraduate (PG) Certificate in Information Technology from the University of Teesside, United Kingdom. After which he went further to earn a Masters (M.Sc.) Degree in Information Systems (IS), from Anglia Ruskin University, United Kingdom. After his M.Sc. he also earned a Certificate in Disruptive Strategy from the Harvard Business School, Boston Massachusetts, USA. Currently, he is working on his Doctorate (PhD) Degree in Information Systems from the Atlantic International University (AIU), Hawaii, USA.

Career[edit]

Aderogba Otunla worked at the University of Maiduguri, Computer Center as the University Webmaster for about 3 years (2006 - 2009). He later moved to Bingham University in July 2009, where he also worked as a Webmaster/Instructor under the Computer Science Department and later moved to the ICT Unit as the Senior Webmaster. He was at Bingham University from July 2009 to February 2018. While at Bingham University he juggled both Academic and Administrative roles like besides teaching under the Computer Science Department, he also taught courses like Web Broadcasting and Web Journalism under the Mass Communications Department for about 4 years. He codes and builds Web Applications using PHP/MySQL. He his responsible for building majority of the University Management Systems, and always works along-side his friend and colleague Mfawa Alfred Onen - the University's Systems Administrator.

He also served the Staff Community as the Financial Secretary of the University Co-operative for two (2) tenures. He enjoys working with the Student Union Government (SUG). One of the partnership with the SUG gave rise to the Google Bandwidth Collaborative Grant earned through a major event tagged "Gone Google".

He has been the Google Business Group (GBG) Manager for FCT - Abuja for over 5 years. GBGs are independent community-led groups formed by passionate business professionals and company owners who share knowledge about Google products and web technologies for local business success. Each GBG chapter organizes a variety of events like social gatherings, workshops, online Hangouts, and more where like-minded business professionals can connect, learn, and get inspired. Topics range from how to better market your company and successfully sell products/services online via Google AdWords, to how to improve internal/external business processes for the organization via Google Apps, and more. You don’t need any technical skills to attend GBG events since all the discussions are business-focused.
