Adham Kandil(Script error: The function "langx" does not exist., born 19 December 2001) is an Egyptian chess Grandmaster. As a chess prodigy, Kandil acquired his FIDE master title in 2013. Later, Kandil acquired the International Master title in 2016 at the age of 15. Kandil earned his Grandmaster title in 2025, making him the seventh Egyptian player to achieve this feat.
Personal life
Adham Mohamed Kandil was born in Giza, Egypt, on 19 December 2001. At the age of 6, Kandil's granduncle taught him chess after Kandil had seen him and his father play the game. Kandil's father, Mohamed, noticed his talent and then took him to The National Egyptian Library to be trained at the hand of Mahmoud Gomaa, an Egyptian chess tutor.
Kandil currently studies at Cairo University, aiming for a bachelor's of science degree with concentrations in Computer Science and Mathematics.
Chess career
Kandil acquired the International Master title in 2016 at the age of 15 at the 2016 Zone 4.2 Individual Chess Championships (Open), which directly grants the title.[1]
Kandil went on to win the 2025 Arab Individual Chess Championship, earning him the Grandmaster title by direct award [2]
