Adler (Adlerek) – is the official mascot of Ruch Chorzów. It's a muscular Upper Silesian anthropomorphic eagle in a blue t-shirt with the emblem of the club.

The mascot was chosen in a competition organized by the club at the beginning of 2008, where 38 out of the total of 50 submitted works were qualified. Design of a stylized eagle from the coat of arms of Upper Silesian won by almost 96% of votes. The author of the mascot is Karol Gwóźdź. The symbolism is deliberate, because fans have been always identifying themselves with Upper Silesia in the first place, and the club itself is synonymous of Silesianess.[1][2]

The debut took place in the 2009/2010 season, during the 27th round of Ekstraklasa (May 1, 2010), in the victorious match of Ruch Chorzów against Legia Warsaw.[3]

The mascot was initially called the diminutive "Adlerek". In April 2016 the mascot went through a facelift, so it took on more muscular image and has adopted the full name "Adler" (in Silesian language "adler" means "eagle").[4] The refreshed figure of the eagle is present not only on the stadium during the matches, but also at many events organized by the club and fans.

Adler got a great popularity in Poland and around the world, taking part in the world game "Mannequin Challenge", which was noticed by media.[5]

In 2016, in a poll conducted by the portal "Niebiescy.pl", the mascot turned out to be the "Personality of the Year 2016", even ahead of the best club footballer of that season, a great striker Mariusz Stępiński.[6]
