Adnan Jilani (Urdu: عدنان جیلانی) is a Pakistani television and film actor.[1] He is known for his performances in drama serials and telefilms including Riyasat (TV series), Rehaai and Ghazi Shaheed.[2][circular reference][3][circular reference][4][circular reference] He is the son of veteran actor Qurban Jilani and the elder brother of actor Kamran Jilani.[5]
Early life
Jilani was born in Karachi, Pakistan, into a family associated with the entertainment industry.[5] His father, Qurban Jilani, was a respected television actor who appeared in several PTV productions.[5] His younger brother, Kamran Jilani, is also an established television actor and model.[5]
Career
Television
Jilani began his career on television, gaining recognition for his role as Nadir in the drama serial Riyasat.[2] He subsequently appeared in a number of dramas including Aitraf, Zara Yaad Kar, Thora Sa Aasman, Anchal, Kaffara, Gustakh, Tahi Dast and Aik Sitam Aur.[6][7]
In 2013, he was part of the ensemble cast of Rehaai, a Hum TV drama directed by Mehreen Jabbar and produced by Kashf Foundation, which addressed issues of child marriage and women’s rights in Pakistan.[3]
In 2018, Jilani appeared in Badbakht on ARY Zindagi, playing Javed, a troubled patriarch.[8]
Film and Telefilms
In 1998, Jilani acted in the telefilm Ghazi Shaheed, produced by the Inter-Services Public Relations. He played the role of Lieutenant-Commander Pervez Hameed in the dramatization of the sinking of PNS Ghazi.[4]
Other work
Beyond acting, Jilani has worked extensively in commercials, dubbing, radio and voice-overs over the span of more than 25 years.[1] He is regarded as a veteran television performer in Pakistan.[9]
Recognition
Jilani was nominated for Best TV Actor at the Lux Style Awards in 2011.[9]
Personal life
Jilani was previously married to television actress Sadia Jilani, though the couple later divorced.[5]
