Adobe Experience Manager (AEM; formerly CQ or Communique) is a web content management system designed to enable users to create, edit, manage and optimize websites across different digital channels such as web, mobile, and social. Based on Java, the system software is platform independent. Originally developed at Day Software, the company and its products were later acquired by Adobe Systems. It is now part of the Adobe Marketing Cloud product suite.

Main features of AEM[1] include:
- Reusable components and templates to create any number of web pages/sites; decoupling the content. Multisite management.
- Author and Publish instances to create, edit, optimize and publish web pages/sites;
- Web Content Management (WCM), Marketing Campaign Management (MCM), and Digital Asset Management (DAM) capabilities to manage content, images, audio and video files and more of a website;
- Allows integration with other Marketing Cloud solutions and marketing tools to interact with target audience.

The origin of CQ[2] was in 2002 when Switzerland-based Day Software introduced its first Day Communique version, Day CQ 3.5. After this, three versions, day CQ 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2, were introduced in 2005, 2006 and 2008 respectively. In 2008, CQ5 was introduced as Day CQ 5.0. Following this, two versions, CQ 5.2 and CQ 5.3, were released by Day Software in 2009 and 2010 respectively. In July 2010, Adobe Systems renamed Day CQ5 as Adobe CQ5 following the acquisition of Day Software.[3] The remaining versions, CQ 5.4 and CQ 5.5, were released as Adobe CQ 5.4 and Adobe CQ 5.5 in 2011 and 2012 respectively. In 2013, Adobe Systems again renamed it to Adobe Experience Manager and released a new version, AEM 5.6. The latest version of AEM, Adobe Experience Manager 6.2 was released recently in 2016.
