Adrian Angelico (born 9th of March 1982 in Tromsø is a Norwegian-sámi mezzo-soprano and opera singer. Specializes in roles like "Octavian"(Der Rosenkavalier[1]) and "Der Komponist" (Ariadne auf Naxos[2]),

Background

Born as Angelica Voje[3], but came out as Adrian Angelico in 2017.[4] As a child he wanted to become a musical theatre singer. He went to drama education at Hartvig Nissen School in Oslo. But after failing math (because of dyscalculia), he attended Holsterbro folkehøjskole in Denmark and took private singing lessons with Henning Vilén in Slagelse. Here he was inspired to pursue opera in stead.

Later he was invited to study at Royal College of Music. Here he was the first ever recipient of the "Opperby-Stokowski" Scholarship. The next two years he studied at Benjamin Britten's International Opera School and at the opera studio at Opernhaus Zürich in 2009.

Angelico had his official debut in 2010.(Bregenzer Festspiele. Some house debuts includes: Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in 2011, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in 2014, Royal Swedish Opera in 2017.

Queen Sonja International Music Competition[6]. Won Troldhaugen's Grieg Prize and the Inger Bjorner Scolarship.
