Adrian Hill (born January 12, 1983) is an American former professional basketball player. After a five-year collegiate career at Rutgers University, Hill played professionally in Spain, Finland, Germany, Turkey, and Luxembourg. He was named the Rutgers Men's Basketball Most Valuable Player for the 2006–07 season after leading the Scarlet Knights in rebounding and ranking among the Big East Conference leaders in field-goal percentage.[1]
Early life
Hill attended Canton McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio, where he scored 926 career points and developed into one of northeast Ohio's top frontcourt prospects. His success earned him a scholarship to Rutgers University.[2]
College career
Hill played for Rutgers from 2002 to 2007, appearing in 99 career games. During his senior season, he averaged 9.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and shot 58.6 percent from the field. He led Rutgers in rebounding, ranked among the Big East leaders in field-goal percentage, and recorded an 18-rebound performance against Notre Dame. At season's end, he was named Rutgers' Most Valuable Player and Most Improved Player.[3]
Hill concluded his collegiate career with 616 points, 461 rebounds, and a .521 career field-goal percentage, which ranked ninth in Rutgers history at the time of his graduation.[4]
Professional career
Following graduation, Hill signed with Óbila Club de Basket in Spain before also competing for Askasvayu CB Vic. He later continued his career in Finland before joining Science City Jena of Germany's ProA League.[5]
Hill played two seasons with Science City Jena. During the 2009–10 season he averaged approximately 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. He returned for the 2010–11 season, averaging 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks while establishing himself as one of the club's primary interior players.[6]
Hill later competed for Pamukkale Üniversitesi in Turkey, MLP Academics Heidelberg and the BSW Sixers in Germany, and US Heffingen in Luxembourg. His final documented professional season came with the BSW Sixers in 2014–15, where he averaged 8.6 points and 7.1 rebounds while shooting 64.5 percent from the field.[7]
Playing style
Hill primarily played power forward and was known for his rebounding, interior scoring, shot blocking, efficient field-goal shooting, and physical defensive presence. Throughout his career he developed a reputation as a high-effort, team-oriented frontcourt player.
