Background[edit]

Adrian Jjuuko is a Lawyer and advocate, an Executive Director, Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum (HRAPF), Uganda which is a human rights NGO providing legal aid services to marginalised groups[1][2]. He was also the coordinator of the Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights and Constitutional Law Uganda for the period 2010–2011.

Education[edit]

He got a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Pretoria, an LLB degree from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda, and a postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala[3].

Career[edit]

He documents cases of violations of the rights of LGBTI persons[4].

LGBT human rights advocacy[edit]

Adrian Jjuuko is the leading African LGBT+ activist. He also does authoritative surveys of expanded criminalisation such as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex by states across the African continent[5].

Achievements[edit]

Adrian Jjuko won the US State Department’s Human Rights Defenders Award 2011[6]. He challenged the Anti Homosexuality Act, 2014 in Uganda’s Constitutional Court. He has written literature too about human rights[7][8].
