Adrianne Haslet

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Adrienne Haslet (b.1980)[1] is a professional ballroom dancer and motivational speaker[2][1] who was injured while observing the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.[3] Despite the amputation of her left leg as a result of the bombing,[4] she decided to continue her dancing career.[5] A prosthetic, bionic leg was designed for her by Hugh Herr[6] director of biomechatronics at the MIT Media Lab,[7] and she was able to return to dancing.[8] She also completed the 2016 Boston Marathon.[9][10] She was featured in a 2014 TED talk.[11] In January 2019, Haslet was hit by a car in a Boston crosswalk.[12] Due to the injuries she suffered in the car accident, Haslet was not able to participate in the 2019 Boston Marathon.[13]

CNN Survivor Diaries

CNN followed Haslet from the early days of her injury as she recovered to regain her ability to once again dance. The segment from Survivor Diaries about her aired on April 8, 2014.[14]

Personal

Haslet is married to Air Force Captain Adam Davis, who was also injured while observing the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.[15]
