Advanced Packaging Solutions & Products Inc.. is a privately held American company which offers packaging and shipping supplies as well as professional and expert packaging services. Advanced Packaging Solutions and Products Inc. was founded in 2012 by Nick Young and Dwayne Rainey, two packaging engineers who graduated with Packaging Science degrees from Clemson University. It is headquartered in Summerville, South Carolina. Advanced Packaging Solutions & Products, Inc. has two distribution centers in South Carolina and services all of North America.

History

Advanced Packaging Solutions & Products, Inc. was founded in 2012 by Nick Young and Dwayne Rainey. The two were graduates from Clemson University and went through the university’s Packaging Science program. Nick had worked as a packaging engineer for Fujifilm Manufacturing USA Inc. in Greenwood, South Carolina before becoming a Packaging Engineer for all North American manufacturing of Top/Bottom mount refrigerators for Electrolux. Dwayne operated his own construction business in Pelzer, South Carolina from 2001 until 2008 and then filled the role of Regional Sales Manager for Drew Foam Company. Prior to starting Advanced Packaging Solutions & Products, Inc., Dwayne was the Sales Manager for Logic Packaging in Greer, South Carolina.

Dwayne and Nick started Advanced Packaging Solutions & Products, Inc. after Dwayne parted ways with Logic Packaging. The two realized that industrial manufacturers needed expert and more technically knowledgeable options to go to for packaging supplies. Filling this niche, Dwayne and Nick started Advanced Packaging Solutions & Products, Inc. out of Dwayne’s living room on January 10th, 2012. Nick would continue to work at Electrolux by day until August of 2014 before coming on board full time, but for the initial two years worked evenings and weekends for their new company. Dwayne worked odd jobs, mostly in construction, for the first several months when he wasn’t working for Advanced Packaging Solutions & Products. It was December of 2013 before either one of them collected the first paycheck from the company. The first order received was a crate for Delta Power Equipment and was built in Dwayne’s small building in his back yard. The company did $158,000 in their first year of business.

Locations

Although the company was started in the upstate of South Carolina, a second location was opened in Charleston, South Carolina in late 2012. After moving his family to the Charleston area in August of 2012, Dwayne started working for a crate manufacturer by day and grew Advanced Packaging Solutions & Products, Inc. along the way. During the first few years the company operated out of 3PL warehouses in both locations. In March of 2016, they leased their first warehouse in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Growth

After slowly growing from an in-home business to a brick-and-mortar company with 14 employees, Advanced Packaging Solutions and Products Inc. picked up notable sales along the way, including Home Depot, BMW, and Boeing. In 2017, Inc. 500 declared Advanced Packaging Solutions and Products Inc. the fastest growing company in South Carolina, sitting at the 242nd in the nation.[1][2]
