1980s[edit]
Advantech Co., Ltd was founded by 3 former Hewlett-Packard Engineers in 1983. The company started with the System Integration Business of IEEE-488 ATS (also known as Automatic Test System). Advantech's first exported product was the PCL 748 IEEE-488 Card. Advantech also successfully launched the PC-Lab Card Series Industrial I/O Cards. Their Global Branch Office in San Jose, California was opened in 1987.[2]

The company created the IPC-600, their first industrial PC, in 1990.
In 1992, the company launched the ADAM Series (Remote Data Acquisition & Control Modules).
In 1999, Advantech Co., Ltd went IPO on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
Their Global Branch Office in Beijing, China was opened in 1992.
Their Global Branch Offices in Düsseldorf, Germany and Milan, Italy were opened in 1993.
Their Global Branch Offices in Budapest, Hungary and Singapore were opened in 1995.
