Advocacy Unified Network (AUN) ISNI 0000000508104055[3] is a non-governmental organization with a multi-sectional network that informs and mobilizes the policymakers, businesses or corporates, and civil society in all regions of the world to advance transparent, accountable, and democratic policy-making, conducive for sustainable development, with the inclusion of all the stakeholders for achieving sustainable growth, international peace and security under the Rule of Law. Membership in AUN is open to any member or alternate member who is in a group or individual policymakers, lawmakers, think tanks, researchers, business entities, civil society members, and activists from democracies worldwide.[4] Currently it consists of approximately 548 members in 48 countries.[5] It was established circa 2016 as a Global Public Policy Research and Advocacy Organization for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The vision of AUN is "to promote effective and efficient democratic governance through deeper and more meaningful involvement of the stakeholders in the policy-making process".[6]

The headquarter of AUN is located in The Hague The Netherlands, in proximity to the International Court of Justice, the Hague Academy of International Law and the International Criminal Court.[7]

The most important project of the AUN is launching a research and survey initiative in the four neighboring countries of Ukraine for the Ukrainian refugees displaced during the Ukraine-Russia conflict to analyze the actual situation and their requirements, especially of the women and girl child. This International Law and Human Rights Programme of AUN has achieved more than 500 volunteers from Hungary, Romania, Poland and Czech Republic.[citation needed]

AUN's Joint Advocacy for Cooperative initiative focuses on identifying the global challenges for the cooperative movement in the Global South and finding solutions to overcome those challenges and convert them into opportunities.[8] In particular, AUN Members worldwide advocate in favor of increasing public awareness about cooperatives and their contributions to socio-economic development, promote the establishment and growth of cooperatives, encourage Governments to establish policies, laws, and regulation conducive to the establishment, growth, and stability of cooperatives, International Organizations (IOs), especially the development agencies, have a vital role to play to provide support for the development of cooperatives through technical assistance and other development aid instruments. [9]

AUN's International Trade Law initiative for SMEs provides new scopes and opportunities using International frameworks and legal mechanisms supporting the transformation from "sick to skilled" SMEs. With the growing industrialization, the incidence of industrial sickness has also been on the rise, especially in small and medium enterprises. It has become a matter of concern for investors, shareholders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and governments. To combat this failure, countries, and organizations must identify revival strategies. And one of the most effective revival strategies can be an infusion of international investment with better international regulations and policies.[10]

AUN got special accreditation[11] from the United Nations for participation and presentation in its high-level meeting on Road Safety held on June 30-July 01, 2022, at UN headquarters in New York, United States[12] and the 2023 UN Water Conference and the preparatory meeting to be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York[13]. AUN highlighted some crucial public policy issues of the SAARC countries through its Nepal Policy Watch project, analyzing critically the governance and politics of Nepal[14]

The organization includes among its membership a concentration of policymakers, lawmakers, think tanks, researchers, business entities, civil society members, activists, bureaucrats, and former politicians, including past and present Ministers and defense personnel. AUN Press is another arm comprising a vibrant team of journalists from 48 countries of the world. [15]

  • “AUN is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce[16] as a Legal entity which is categorized as umbrella bodies and cooperation and advisory bodies".[17]
