Repositories
By default aerOS uses these repositories
- core, contains all the packages needed to set up a base system. Packages in this repository include kernel packages and shell languages.
- extra, holds packages not required for the base system, including desktop environments and programs.
- multilib, a centralized repository for x86-64 users to more readily support 32-bit applications in a 64-bit environment. Packages in this repository include Steam and Wine.
- chaotic-aur, It is an unofficial package repository that contains pre-built packages from the AUR.
- alg-repo, contains custom ALG packages, ALG (formerly Arch Linux GUI), was a fast, offline, graphical installer for Arch Linux. It was discontinued in the month of July 2022, after a final release.
- packages-aeros, contains packages that are modified to optimize to run in aerOS.
However chaotic-aur, alg-repo repositories are only used when building aerOS, and are not used in the system.
Package Management
By default aerOS uses pacman for installing packages and updating packages. However aerOS has yay-AUR[2] for installing packages that are not in Arch Repositories, and in Arch User Repositories. aerOS also has flatpak for installing packages in GNOME Software.
