Aer Lingus flight 328 crashed in the Birmingham Metropolitan Area on 31 January 1986. There were no fatalities or injuries and the probable cause was ice hitting the fuselage.

Accident sequence[edit]

The aircraft departed from Dublin Airport, and when they ascended, the temperature rose, and they heard ice hitting the side fuselage. But then, swaying occurred, and the aircraft crashed on 2 wires, 2 wooden poles, and landed on a barley field.

Investigation[edit]

The probable cause is the ice, the ice hit the fuselage, which has the force to push it side-to-side, and this reason was also accepted by the AIB (An Agency from the UK).
