Aerial battleship
An aerial battleship(the lit. of Japanese term航空戦艦こうくうせんかん) is a kind of battleship equipped with a short flight deck for aerial operation. After the Battle of Midway, the Imperial Japanese Navy considered several aircraft carrier conversion schemes of battleship proposed by Abe Yasuo in Maru Special 116.[1] Britain, France and America all had similar conceptions before WWII, but the only aerial battleships ever made are the Japanese Ise-class battleships.
Action[edit]
The only action of the two ships after being converted was the battle of Leyte. In the battle of Cape Engano, the two ships were attacked by large wave of US aircrafts after 17hrs on Oct.25th,but the two ships only received minor damage and shot down multiple planes with AA guns and rockets.[2]。
