Affluentitis
Affluentitis: Is a portmanteau of affluence and itis which connotes an affliction rather than a disease. Affluentitis refers to the desire to acquire Goods and Services that improves one's standard of living and Quality of Life by increasing one's purchasing power. Unlike Affluenza[1] which connotes excessive spending, The degree of Affluentitis [2] is relative to one's economic stature in that a person who has more can afford to purchase more and a person who has less works towards acquiring more.. Affluentitis refers to economic prosperity that every Nation, Community, Individual strives for. It refers to the spending habits of each level of the economic segment that provides opportunities for people in the lower economic segment. In gauging a spend based on moral attributes that deem it as wasteful or unnecessary, Affluentitis evaluates a spend from two points of view. 1) Whether the person can afford to spend the money or make the acquisition and 2) whether it provides opportunity for others. When evaluated in this light, spending that is sometimes criticized as "conspicuous consumption" would actually be a good example of Affluentitis.
