Afsaneh Salari (Persian: افسانه سالاری, ; born 8 November 1988) is an Iranian documentary filmmaker, editor and producer, best known for directing *The Silhouettes* and producing *The Forbidden Strings*.
- The Silhouettes* has a nomination for Best Documentary Feature in the 39th Fajr Film Festival and was a Jury Special Mention for Best Documentary Feature in Visions du Reel[1] and also has the Next Award Prize in the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in 2021[2] and was Director’s Choice of Young Talent Award in the Iranian Film Festival Zurich.[3]
In her latest creative documentary, *Great Are the Eyes of a Dead Father*, she has Wim Wenders by her side[4] as the Creative Consultant and part of A Sense of Place project was in collaboration with the Wim Wenders Foundation.[5]
Salari has a BA in film editing from the Art University of Tehran, holds a Master’s degree in Creative Directing and Cinematography from the University of Paris 8 in France, and has a Master of Documentary Directing from Docnomads joint masters.
She is the co-founder of Docmaniacs Film collective in Tehran, and the founding producer of Docmaniacs Productions[1] in Paris. Afsaneh Salari is an alumna of the La Femis documentary course,[1] Berlinale Talents,[6] and IDFA Academy.
