After book series
After is a novel series written by American author Anna Todd. The series is based on the British boy band One Direction. Todd first wrote After in 2013 on the story sharing website named Wattpad. In May 2014, she obtained a book deal with Gallery Books and a movie deal with UTA.
Writing the books
The first book, After, started as Harry Styles fan fiction. It was published by Simon & Schuster's Gallery imprint with rights sold in 23 countries. Paramount bought the rights to turn the book into a movie.[citation needed]
Todd claims that she had been spending eight hours a day writing After, and publishing the chapters to the online community Wattpad.
