Agni Dasein is a Russian-Austrian contemporary artist, who lives and works in Vienna. She works primarily in painting, however she is also active in sculpture, new media art and performance. Recurring themes in her art are human rights, feminism, social relationships, sexuality. Agni was born in Perm, Russia, received her art education in Yekaterinburg, and established her artistic career in Saint Petersburg. Her first notable solo exhibition was in the gallery of the Graz Artists` Association[1], Austria, in 2013. In 2014, she took part in Cross Art Festival[2] at the largest private contemporary art museum in Saint Petersburg, ERARTA.
Career
2010–2013: 'inner sexuality'
The earliest period of Agni Dasein's work. She began to create a series of expressive self-portraits, inspired by Austrian artist Egon Schiele. In 2012 Agni moved from Yekaterinburg to Saint Petersburg, and in 2013 opened her first solo exhibition in Graz, Austria.
2013-2015: 'Interpersonal human relationships'
In 2014, she participated in the CrossArt Festival[3] from the Erarta Museum, where she and street art artist Lu Blue[4] gradually exposed themselves for 3 days, while also being models and artists during the performance "The Expose of Reflection".
Also in 2014, she gave the performance "Vulnerability" at the art space Art-hata in Saint Petersburg, Russia. 2015 Agni moved to Moscow and political themes began to appear in her art works, for example the acrylic painting "The heart of country".
2015-2017: 'Art Space'
In 2016 she founded an art space[5] together with her team in Saint Petersburg. Also during this year, Agni Dasein has painted the portraits of strangers, when she was in state of altered consciousness. In 2017 Agni Dasein travelled to India and found spiritual growth. In 2018 she moved to Austria[6] to work in her Vienna Art Studio.
2020-present: 'Human rights'
Immigration opened a new perspective on society and the arts for Agni Dasein, she began to work on a series of works on human rights.
