José Agustín Boza Lillo (1860 – 23 August 1941) was a Chilean lawyer and politician who served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile.
A member of the Liberal Democratic Party, Boza represented Osorno from 1912 to 1915. During his term, he was a member of the Mixed Budget Commission and the Permanent Commission of Elections.[1]
He was later reelected to the Chamber for the 1918–1921 term, representing Llanquihue and Carelmapu.[1]
Biography
Boza was born in San Bernardo in 1860, the son of José Boza Patiño and María Ana Lillo Mardones. He studied at the Colegio de Crisólogo Fredes and Santo Tomás de Aquino, completed his humanities studies at the Instituto Nacional, and later studied law at the University of Chile, qualifying as a lawyer in June 1883.[1]
He entered public administration in 1880 as an official of the Ministry of the Navy and later held several posts within the ministry. He subsequently served as governor of Los Andes and, in 1889, as acting intendant of Aconcagua and intendant of Maule.[1]
Following the Chilean Civil War of 1891, Boza moved to Buenos Aires and later returned to Chile after the amnesty law. He subsequently engaged in milling and agricultural activities.[1]
In 1894, he was elected to the Santiago municipality and served as second mayor, later acting as first mayor during the incumbent's absence. He also held positions within the Liberal Democratic Party, including secretary, director and member of its executive board.[1]
Boza later served as undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and Public Instruction. In 1910, he was elected a presidential elector for Santiago.[1]
In 1922, he was appointed administrator of the Municipal Theatre of Santiago. He later served as director general of municipal supplies and, from 1927, as director of the municipal Department of Control.[1]
He died in Santiago on 23 August 1941.[1]
