Ahikaria, also known under the alias Kataruma, is a Ukrainian experimental electronic artist known for crafting deeply introspective soundscapes that blend lo-fi, ambient, future garage, and drum & bass. Believed to be born between 2007 and 2009, the artist maintains a mysterious online presence while steadily building a cult following across Spotify, SoundCloud, and Bilibili.
Starting Years (2024–2025)
Starting out under the name Kataruma in early 2024, the artist released a series of moody electronic singles such as “Wake Up”, “Cold Inside”, and “There Was Madness Going on in My Head”. These early works established a sonic identity rooted in emotional vulnerability, late-night solitude, and internal chaos. In 2025, they expanded their creative identity with their new project Ahikaria, diving deeper into ambient and textural territory. Their debut lo-fi EP, *Playing Forgotten Songs* (April 2025), was followed by “11th Floor” (May 2025), a project steeped in future garage melancholy. By June, they ventured into drum & bass with “Deconstruction”, showing a remarkable ability to genre-hop while maintaining emotional depth. Despite their young age—rumored to be 16 or 17—Ahikaria’s production carries a level of emotional maturity and sonic experimentation that has earned them underground respect in the ambient and lo-fi electronica scenes. While their identity remains mostly anonymous, one confirmed detail stands: they are from Ukraine, and they are rapidly evolving as one of the region’s most promising bedroom producers.
