Ahl Iman (Persian: اهل ایمان‎), is a Persian-language term to describe the literal meaning as people of faith. This term is often used among Muslims, especially of Persian and Hindustani-speaking Muslims, to say concerning a believer in Islam. The term soon used in several works by some people. The term is now popular among Persian and Hindustani-speaking Muslims.

Etymology[edit]

The term is first founded in the Persian translation of the Quran by Mirza Mahdi Elahi Ghomshei, which is his variant for the Quranic Arabic-language sign يأيها الذين آمنوا, which the term literally meaning o you who believe in the English language. Soon, the meaning of the term is same to that is in the Quran, which means people of faith (a person who believes as a Muslim).

Usage in Quran translations[edit]

This term has become more popular in Quran translations since the 20th and 21st century, especially among Persian and Hindustani translators of the Holy Quran.

ای اهل ایمان، روزی حلال و پاکیزه‌ای که ما نصیب شما کرده‌ایم بخورید و شکر خدا به جای آرید اگر شما خالص خدا را می‌پرستید.

Meaning: O people of faith, eat the lawful and pure foods which We have bestowed upon you, and be grateful to Allah if you sincerely worship Him.

The second example of the translation of the Quran that uses the same term and same meaning is based on this translation by Fateh Muhammad Jalandhry:

اے اہل ایمان جو پاکیزہ چیزہں ہم نے تم کو عطا فرمائے ہیں ان کو کھاؤ اور اگر خدا بی کے بندے ہو تو اس (کی نعمتوں) کا شکر بھی ادا کرو
