Ahmed Al-Rawi (born 1975) is an Iraqi Canadian academic. He serves as an assistant professor https://www.sfu.ca/communication/team/faculty/ahmed-alrawi.html of News, Social Media, and Public Communication at Simon Fraser University. He is also the Director of the Disinformation Project http://www.sfu.ca/communication/research/projects/the-disinformation-project.html.
Education Al-Rawi obtained a Ph.D. in English literature from the Department of English at Baghdad University (2004) and another Ph.D. degree in Media and Communication Research from Leicester University (2012).
Career Al-Rawi began his career serving as a communication officer and spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Iraq. He also produced numerous radio reports and features for Pacifica Radio Network and Free Speech Radio News between 2003 and 2004. In 2006, he started his academic career by teaching in Oman, teaching afterwards at Erasmus University in the Netherlands (2011-2014) and at Concordia University (2015-2018).
