Ahmed Anan is a Bahraini Contemporary artist known for mixing Western Contemporary art with traditional Bahraini art, and for the active artistic representation of 'the Woman' as different topics in the Middle East.[1]
Biography
Ahmed Anan was born in Manama, Bahrain in 1968, in a religious Muslim household that forbade him from drawing at an early age. He secretly started drawing until he gained the attention of his teachers who encouraged him to participate in art competitions and represent his school. In 1989 he became a member of Bahrain Contemporary Art Association and started a career in art despite his family's religious views, later becoming the head of the same Art Association in 2018.
Career
Anan became a member of Bahrain Contemporary Art Association in 1989 and participated in his first group exhibition. He received the 1st prize in The Society Annual Exhibition in 2001. His artwork was sold in Christie’s Auctions in 2010. He was later elected as the Head of Bahrain Contemporary Art Association.
