Ahmed Ferjani
Ahmed Ferjani is a Tunisian sabre fencer who competes for the Tunisian national fencing team and St. John’s University in the United States. Recognized as an elite athlete by the Tunisian Olympic Committee, he is a multiple-time African champion, Mediterranean champion, and NCAA All-American. Ferjani is currently preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.[1]
Early life and education Ferjani was born in Tunisia and began fencing at a young age. He attended the High School of Manouba, where he earned a mathematics-focused Baccalaureate. He later studied economics and finance in the United States, graduating from St. John’s University with honors, and earning an MBA in FinTech from Paris-Dauphine University.[2]

Fencing career Junior career Ferjani quickly rose through the Tunisian fencing ranks, capturing national titles in every youth category. He won multiple medals at continental and Mediterranean events, including:
Gold Medal – African Championships (Junior) – 2018 and 2019[3] Gold Medal – Mediterranean Sea Championships (Junior) – 2020[4] Ranked as high as 5th in the world in the junior rankings. Senior career Ferjani has represented Tunisia internationally since 2013, earning numerous distinctions in major events:
Bronze Medal – African Championships (Individual) – 2019, 2021, 2022, 2025[5] Gold Medal – Team African Champion – 2017, 2019, 2022, 2024[6] Bronze Medal – World Cup (Flemish Open, Ghent) – 2023[7] Silver Medal – Arab Games (Individual and Team) – Oran 2023 Participated in multiple Fencing World Championships (Cairo 2022, Tbilisi 2025)[8] Ferjani achieved his career-best senior world ranking of No. 32 in 2024.[1]
Collegiate career In the United States, Ferjani competes for St. John’s Red Storm Fencing Team in the NCAA. He has been named an NCAA All-American three times (2022, 2023, 2024) and was the BIG EAST Champion in 2024.[9] He also earned the Excalibur Award as St. John’s best fencer and served as team captain.[10]
Personal life Ferjani is fluent in Arabic, French, and English. Outside of sport, he has studied finance and data analytics, and he volunteers through community organizations in Tunisia and the United States.
