Ahmed Mudawi
Ahmed Mudawi is a British TV presenter and consultant. He is Deaf and a British Sign Language user.
Activity[edit]
Mudawi is originally from Sudan. He was born hearing and became deaf following an accident as a child. His older sister Omeima is deaf, too. When he was six, he moved to London and started attending a school for deaf. As a teenager, he started attending Deaf Clubs and playing football.[1]
Mudawi works as a presenter for different tv channels. He was initially cast in Channel 4's Vee-TV, a weekly Deaf magazine (broadcast on Saturday) that was launched in 2001 and ran for six series through to 2006, with a strong focus on contemporary deaf youth culture.
He then moved on working for BBC's Deaf magazine See Hear, often with Memnos Costi.[2] In 2021 he presented "Dismantling Racism", a documentary directed by David Ellington on the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.[3] As well as his work on television, he regularly presents shows and documentaries on BSL Zone.[4]
