Ahmedabad International Literature Festival[edit]
Ahmedabad International Literature Festival is usually held in the month of November / December every year.The first edition was held on 12 and 13 November 2016. It attracted a huge response particularly from youth, since then, the festival has been consistently achieving greater heights with every edition.
The motto of the festival is to promote reading and writing among the children and young adults besides creating an opportunity for literary tourism in the state of Gujarat. It also aims to bridge the gap between Gujarati and other national and international languages and writers.
The festival is managed and organised by Ikon Education Foundation, a charitable public trust. Its founder director Umashanker Yadav is also the Managing Trustee of the Trust. Ikon Education Foundation is a Non Profit Organisation which promotes and supports education, literature, arts , culture and sports.
Every year authors , thinkers, journalists, academicians, film personalities from all over India and abroad are invited in the two days program to participate in panel discussions and other parallel activities. Ahmedabad International Literature Festival invites celebrated and decorated personalities along with the young and new authors.The festival offers a platform to young and budding writers through different initiatives like creative writing workshops etc. The festival also organizes cultural evenings by different artists from the state of Gujarat to show case the rich heritage and culture of the state. The opening is usually done through the performances of classical dances and traditional musics in the presence of some public figure.
The festival also organizes poetry and story contests for the writers from all over India in different languages like Hindi, English, Gujarati and awards the winners through prizes and mementos.
Parent Organization : Ahmedabad International Literature Festival is organised by Ikon Education Foundation , a charitable public trust which is engaged in the promotion of literature , arts, education, culture and sports. The managing trustee and founder of the trust is Umashanker Yadav who conceptualized the Ahmedabad International Literature Festival in 2016. AILF is a registered copy right property of the Ikon Education Foundation.
