Ahmosids

The Ahmosids were an ancient Egyptian ruling family who took power in the country at the end of the 17th dynasty, drove the Hyksos out, and contributed significantly to the establishment of the New Kingdom of Egypt.
Family tradition
The Ahmosid era set in with the end of Hyksos rule during the Second Intermediate Period. It began with King Senakhtenre Ahmose and his consort Tetisheri around 1550 BCE and lasted four generations until the reign of King Amenhotep I (c. 1524–1504 BCE). The family became known as a "numerous tribe" because it consisted of a large number of members: at least 23 people can be confidently assigned to its first three generations alone.[1] Of these, it is predominantly female family members who are attested in contemporary and posthumous sources.
The family name derives from Ahmose I, the first king of the 18th Dynasty. The "family god" was the moon god Iah, who appears in many names from this time period, e.g. in Ahhotep ("Iah is content") and Ahmose ("Iah is born").
