Arjen Eggebeen (born December 18, 1996), better known by his online alias Ahrix, is a music producer from the Netherlands.
Early life
Ahrix was born in 1996 in the Netherlands. Interested in music from an early age and wanting to write his own songs, Ahrix installed FL Studio and started producing music at the age of 14. He learned how to produce music largely through self-taught methods, and improved through trial and error by watching tutorials on YouTube.[1]
Career
He started a YouTube channel in 2013 and released a song called "Nova" on NCS, which became a huge hit and as of 2020 has over 12 million views on his channel and over 80 million views on NCS's YouTube channel. He stated that when he discovered K-391 in 2013, he felt very inspired and wanted to make music like his, which drove him to create "Nova," the first track he released as Ahrix. Alan Walker himself has stated that the melody and chord progression of "Nova" was one of his references when he wrote "Fade" (later "Faded"), the song that led to his breakthrough.[1][2][3] Incidentally, the song ranked #44 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs in 2017.[4]
On March 6, 2020, the song "End of Time" was released in collaboration with Alan Walker and K-391. The song reached #4 on the Norway charts, #60 on the Sweden charts, and was certified platinum in Norway. The song is a remake of "Nova" and is a tribute to past producers as well as the three's strong desire to inspire future bedroom producers.[5][6][7][8]
Alan Walker, Ahrix, and K-391 were all made famous by the NCS, and the ring of light on the cover art for "End of Time" is supposed to be a nod to the ring in the NCS video.[1]
