An air harp is a digital harp it lets musicians of different skill levels play advanced music on the harp.  It lets you do this by pressing buttons which lets you “strum” the strings that aren’t there. The air harp was made by Peter DeSimone. The air harp is able to fit in your pocket and you can take it with you, it can work as an accompaniment for singers and songwriters. It has direct access up to fourteen chords which includes seven diatonic chords. It can also go to any key with a push of a button.[1]

How does it work?[edit]

The air harp has a beam that is not noticeable, the beam reflects off of your hand so it can tell how far the distance is between the device and your hand, it’s a form of ultrasonic sonar ranging. [1]

History[edit]

The air harp was made after a weekend of hacking with a leap motion dev board. Leap motion is a motion tracking device.[2]

Construction and components[edit]

It is a small box and the width is 8 centimeters. Inside there are infrared cameras that track your finger it can do that to accuracy of 1/100th of a millimeter.[3]
