Airport Departure Process
Departure in aviation terms is a process of leaving one airport for another using an aircraft.[1]

Check In
On arrival at the airport, a passenger has to find the check-in counter and start the process of checking in. At the check-in counter, a passenger has to show travel and flight documents to the officer, weigh their baggage and get a baggage tag pasted to their bags, get a boarding pass and then proceed to Customs & immigration.[2][3]
Customs and Immigration
After passengers get checked in, they should proceed to customs if necessary. If they have to declare any items and if they have any dutiable items, they need custom clearance.[4] If not, they should proceed to the immigration counter. Immigration is the authority of the state having the final right to allow or deny the passenger to board the flight. If the immigration officer finds any doubt or feels the passenger, document, purpose of travel or intention of the passenger is suspicious, the passenger is denied boarding the flight.[5][6]
Security Check
After Immigration, passengers have to move to security check and screening. This might be the state police or other security agencies appointed by the airport authority. During the security check, one's body might be thoroughly checked and one has to pass through X-ray gates.[7][8][9]
Boarding
After all the formalities, passengers wait for the boarding process in the departure hall. When boarding starts, announcements are made, flight details are displayed and boarding gates are unlocked.[10] Passengers show their boarding cards to the boarding staff and enroll themselves for boarding the flight. Once clear of the boarding gate, passengers get onboard the aircraft.[11]
