Ajay Chopra (born 8 February 1977) is an Indian celebrity chef. He is a television and digital personality, and co-hosted and judged the first two seasons of MasterChef India along side with Akshay Kumar, Kunal Kapur, Vikas Khanna.[1] Chopra is also a restaurant consultant as the director for Zion Hospitality and has opened over 24 restaurants in India and abroad.[2] He is a food creator, a media personality, a television host.[3]

Career

Ajay Chopra did his education from Institute of Hotel Management, Goa. He started his career at Cecil Oberoi Shimla. In the year 2000 he joined the Oberoi centre for culinary development (OCLD) in the culinary and management trainee program and came out as a gold medalist. After completion of his training at (OCLD) he started working as the chef of the palms, the coffee shop, and as the banquet chef.[4]

Later he joined as the chef de cuisine at Lotus Cafe and saffron at J.W Marriott, Mumbai. He then ventured overseas and joined the Mint Leaf chain of restaurants, London as the executive head chef where he was voted as one of the best eight Indian chefs in London.[citation needed]

He has also worked for some globally recognised chains such as Marriott and Starwood and held the role of executive chef for over 9 years before returning to India in 2009.[5] He also introduced Burgundy Box, a do-it-yourself meal kit.[6] He is now also a brand ambassador for the European Union "More Than Food" campaign in India.[7]
