From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Ajay Verma is born on 25th October 1989 in Lakhimpur-Kheri city, a part of Lucknow division in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. He completed his primary education from Sitapur. In 2008, he completed B.Sc. from Sacred Heart Degree College (SHDC), affiliated to Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur. He moved Faizabad, to pursue the postgraduate diploma in biotechnology (PGDBT) specialization in tissue culture (2009). In 2009, he joined Vikramajit Singh Sanatan Dharma (VSSD) College, Nawabganj Kanpur and completed the M.Sc. in 2011. He qualified GATE-2012 in Chemistry. He was awarded by the junior research fellowship (JRF) in Chemical Sciences by the University Grant Commission (UGC) New Delhi, India in July-2012 and senior research fellowship (SRF) in July-2014. In July 2012, He joined the group of Professor Sangit Kumar[1], Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal for doctoral studies and completed in May 2017. His dissertation title is “Iodine and Organoselenium Assisted Intramolecular Cyclization Reactions: Synthesis of Normal and Medium-Sized Heterocycles[2]”. PhD research work concentrates around the functionalization and mechanistic investigation of unfunctionalized C─H bonds of various alkyl/aryl moieties and subsequently provide the various biologically relevant nitrogen and oxygen-founded heterocycles. The synthesis of medium-sized (7-11) halolactones and bromo-oxepanes has been performed by a co-catalytic system consisting of substituted diarylselenide and DMAP at 0 oC. Benzoxazinones, Isoindolinones, and Phenanthridinones have been synthesised using molecular iodine with the combination of organic peroxide through C-C and C-H bond functionalization via radical pathways.

In 2018, Dr Verma awarded the prestigious Newton International Fellowship by Royal Society.[3] At the same time, he joined the group of Professor Matthew J Rosseinsky, FRS, University of Liverpool, UK[4] and started his further research on the synthesis of peptide-based organic linkers to discover a new class of porous Metal-Organic Frameworks and smart materials.
