Akali Prem Singh Ji were the 15th Jathedar (leader) of Shiromani Panth Akali Budha Dal, which is a group of the Nihang sect of Sikh warriors.[1] Akali Prem Singh Ji were born in Punjab, India. Though they are most known for their years of seva at the gurudwara of Mata Sahib Devan Ji in Nanded.[2]

Seva

Baba Prem Singh Ji spent their entire life doing seva (service) of the gurudwara of Mata Sahib Devan Ji. Mata Sahib Devan Ji are considered the mother of the Khalsa, so their gurdwara means a large amount to the Sikh community.[3] They would wake up at Amrit vela and do extensive jaap and nitnem. Baba Ji’s seva was so great that even sitting next to them you would start reciting Waheguru.[2]

Jathedari

On September 3, 2014, the previous Jathedar (leader) Baba Surjit Singh Ji Akali, aged 69, passed away. His funeral services were held at a Gurdwara Sahib near Bathinda. The whole panth (including Meet (secondary) Jathedar Baba Bahadur Singh Ji) chose Baba Prem Singh Ji as the next Jathedar of the Budha Dal.[1]

Passing Away

Baba Prem Singh Ji passed away in October of 2019. Baba Ji passed away in a car crash when a school bus moving at high speed in the wrong direction hit Baba Ji's car.[4]
