Akeel Mohamed Kalik (born June 27, 1998) is a Sri Lankan American actor and model. Akeel has appeared in several TV commercials and ad campaigns for brands including Mountain Dew, The North Face, and Bass Pro Shops. He began his career in Arizona in 2018.

Early life

Kalik was born on June 27, 1998, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and grew up in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. He is the oldest of three children. His father, Dr. Aseedu Kalik, was a resident doctor at Coney Island Hospital, and later, the Chief of Medicine at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

Kalik's father immigrated the family to the United States during the Sri Lankan Civil War, which ended in 2009. He moved to Owensboro, Kentucky in 2004. Kalik was raised Muslim, and was academically inclined in school, winning awards for Outstanding Speaker. Kalik was first chair clarinet and enjoyed sports (especially swimming). Kalik attended Arizona State University, and became interested in acting and TV production during his first year of college. He joined the Delta Chi fraternity, with notable actor alumni including Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner. During his freshman year, he attended a casting call where he was signed to Ford Robert Black agency in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Kalik credits FordRBA agency with contributing heavily to his career. With the support of his agents he was able to develop his talent portfolio, and within his first two years, he was able to amass over 20 clients. While he attended auditions, Kalik paid for his school and acting classes by flipping boats, working at Chick-fil-A, delivering for Domino's, and several other small jobs.
