Akhil Marar is an Indian film director and screenwriter, who works in Malayalam cinema. He made his directorial debut with the 2021 political satire film Oru Thathvika Avalokanam..[1]. He is best known for his participation in the fifth season of the Malayalam-language version of the reality TV show Bigg Boss .
Early life[edit]
Akhil Marar was born on Wednesday, 7 September 1988 (age 34 years; as of 2022) in Kottarakkara, Kollam district, Kerala, India. Akhil did his schooling at CF High School, Kottiyam, Kerala and S.V.M.M.H.S.S. Vendar, Kerala. Soon after completing his higher secondary education, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Fatima Mata National College, Kollam.
Career[edit]
Marar made his directorial debut with Oru Thathvika Avalokanam (2021), a political satire film which he also wrote, starring Joju George and Aju Varghese. The Times of India rated 3 out of 5 stars and wrote that the film gives a "handful of moments of humour for one to remember and laugh, once you leave the theatre", however, "in certain stretches, it gets too preachy as well, which dulls the overall impact".[2] In addition to his work in filmmaking, he has also appeared as a cinema commentator in prime time debate panels in Malayalam news channels. In 2023, he participation in the fifth season of the Malayalam-language version of the reality TV show Bigg Boss[3]
Akhil Marar won the title of Bigg Boss (Malayalam season 5) at the grand finale of the show, which was scheduled for July 2, 2023 [4]

Marar is married to Lakshmi Akhil Marar and they have two daughters.
