From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Akira Hikawa[edit]

Akira Hikawa is a self-taught and sextilingual manga creator, fantasy and realism digital and traditional illustrator. He is the creator of the webmangas Last Resort[1] and Gods[2] and he has partially customised the character El Neng of the Spanish night show Buenafuente. He won the contest for The Big Bang Theory Expo[3] of Paris on November 2014.

Early life[edit]

His main passion has always been drawing, but he was a very curious child and that was exactly what created the autodidact he is today. Hardly influenced by the Akira Toriyama's style.

Mastered styles[edit]

  • Manga — this is the most used style of Akira Hikawa, not only when he creates comics, but also on illustrations or characters customisations.
  • Fantasy — as a big fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, it is one of his favourite themes to create illustrations or concept art.
  • Realism — for this style, he usually uses mechanical pencil, graphite, charcoal, Conté, pierre noire and colour pencils but he also uses a raster graphics editors for full coloured illustrations.
  • No-Ruler Architecture — he copies real buildings on the street with only a ballpoint pen and a notepad, so he is able to draw any building without making mistakes neither erasing. Some no-ruler architecture drawings have been later coloured with a raster graphics editor.
  • Cartoon — although this is not his favourite style, he usually works with this style, but barely for his own pleasure, mostly for eventual commissions.
  • Graphic Design and Branding — as he masters Adobe Creative Suite he works very often with private entreprises around the world creating/modifying logotypes, banners, posters and customisation. Sometimes he does photo editing too, to enhance a picture or add/substrate some elements.

Influences and inspirations[edit]

His first important influence was the mangaka Akira Toriyama, especially with his basic manga style. Later would be Tolkien and George Lucas for the storytelling and creation of characters skills. And during the last ten years, he has been strongly inspired by Eiichiro Oda, especially for the adventure and fight scenes skills.
