Akkad (Arabic: عقاد) also sometimes spelled Al-Akkad or Al-Aqqad, (Arabic: العقاد) It is a very big and famous and influential family in Aleppo, Syria[1].[2]
The origins of the Akkad family go back to the Sephardic Jews who left Spain and Portugal in 1492 for the Ottoman Empire to Aleppo.[3]
The Akkad family was also famous in Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine and Egypt.[4][5]
Until the 18th century, the Akkad family was Jewish and they converted to Islam later.
